Monsoon, Milwaukee, WI

Monsoon is probably my new favorite place in Milwaukee. Well, almost Milwaukee since it is technically in Brookfield.

Monsoon has everything I look for in a restaurant, and starts off great. The dining area is dark, quiet, comfortable, and very spacious. There is nothing I hate more then coming to a nice place and sitting in someone else's lap.

The second thing you notice is the pace. Both times I have been to Monsoon the waiter greeted us and got us drinks very fast, then left us alone to settle in with our drinks and menu to decide on what we wanted.

And what we finally decided on was great. I got the Szechuan Chicken and my girlfriend got the Beef & Broccoli. Both of these dishes come with rice, which is served separately. This

The Szechuan Chicken was delicious. It was very spicy but also very flavorful, the sauce slightly sweet with onions and peppers. The chicken was juicy and plentaful and there was plenty of sauce. The Beef & Broccoli was just as good. It was not as hot as the Szechuan Chicken, but it was not supposed to be. The Broccoli was cooked to the perfect balance between crisp and uncooked. The sauce was delicious and again, the chicken was portioned perfectly and cooked just right.

Our waiter was attentive, but not over bearing. He would stop by to make sure we were doing ok, but very briefly.

After dinner we had some warm sake. I don't know anything about sake, but it was good. We enjoyed it slowly while our food digested, then we were off.

Monsoon is very reasonable for the amount of food and the ambiance.

I give it 5 stars.
